Would you invest in your Me.inc?

Do you know of a company that…

Has no Mission or Mission statement!
Has no Vision of where the company wants to be in 10/20 years from now!
Has no Guideline Values to help in decision making!
Has no council of advisors in the form of board of directors!
Occasionally sets annual goals but has no reviews or tracking and is soon forgotten!
Has no Financial Plan whatsoever – Does not know its Cash flow, Profit and Loss Statement or Balance sheet!
Does not feel accountable to its stakeholders to keep them abreast of significant changes or consult when appropriate!
Does not have an incentivisation system that promotes the right behavior!

This company sure sounds chaotic and doesn’t isn’t sound like a company that will thrive in any environment at all.

Would you work in a company like this?
Would you invest in a company like this?
Are you a company like this?

Replace the company with your name….

Why Not?

A company is an artificial legal entity and you are a real one…except that I do not find much of a difference in the two. I find administrating a company to be a good frame work to use for administering our own lives.

Now tell me,
Would you invest in your Me.inc?

Personal Mission
Personal Mission

Do you know what your life to be remembered for? (Personal Mission Statement)

Do you know in which direction you want to steer your life? We all ask Children what do you want to be when you grow up, but once we grow up we hardly stop to ask ourselves, Am I where I want to be and If not how do I get there? (Personal Vision Statement)

Do you know what you stand for in your life? (Values Statement)

Do you have a group of well-informed mentors who are pitching for your success like a Board of Directors?

Do you feel responsible towards the other stakeholders in your life like your spouse, parents, neighbors, society and emulate the kind of behavior you wish everyone including your children follow.

Are you celebrating the right behavior and ensure you are on your track to getting to where you want to go. Do you have an accountability partner who will ensure you do things right and also the right things?

Do you not just set annual goals but also do regular reviews to ensure you are on track to achieve them and pivot as required?

Do you know where your money comes from and where it is going? Do you know how much you spend in various categories and how much you save…do you have a retirement plan, does your spouse know where the money is held and how to access it in case of any emergency ?

If an artificial person with an unlimited life span, can live an organized purposeful life, and I’m sure you have played a great role in this in your own organization, why we individuals with limited life span continue to live an aimless unorganized life as if we have unlimited time in our hands.

When we expect the company we invest our money in to at least have these things in place, why do we have such low expectations on ourselves.

    1. Although I’m not the biggest fan of Confession right now, I know it will get easier over time. Even though I felt inept, the priest was kind and understanding. Thank you for posting tips – I’ll be referring to them before I go next time!

    2. Hey Kev,When I was younger and had no gym around me and I was aching for a workout, Id go out to the garage grab 2 car batteries and go at it.I got in Bicep Curls, Squats, fratn raises and rows. It was definately something different haha.

    3. I have to say, I dont know if its the clashing colours or the bad grammar, but this blog is hideous! Its actually attention-grabbing, but you dont characterize it effectively at all, man. Anyway, in my language, there are usually not a lot good source like this.

  16. Yesssss! It is so important to invest in ourselves. And how wonderful would it be to shape our lives to output useful products like Tata, rather than dishing out junk like Coca Cola 🙂
